I see rather too many parallels with my experience of IT in this piece. My theory is that the social dimension to modern computing is so powerful that it is completely undermining the potential increase to workplace productivity. As fast as they innovate we find new ways of distracting one another. And you need super-human levels of self-discipline to avoid this.
